About My Photography
Photography is my passion
I had a camera when I was young. As a teenager I learned to develop B/W film.
I continue to explore and develop this artistic expression, and grow even more committed to this art everytime I capture a new image.
The more I learn, the more I understand how much more there is to learn. Two of the most important lessons:
- It's not about the light, it's the shadows.
- It's not about the camera, it's the eye.
Photoshop
One thing that might surprise you. I don't use Photoshop. I don't have any issue with others using it, and in the right hands it's an amazing tool. I just prefer to work with the camera rather than the computer.
Influences
There are many photographers that have inspired me. The few that continue to influence me the most are:
- Steve McCurry (1950- )
- Alfred Cheney Johnston (1885-1971)
- Helmut Newton (1920-2004)
- Alfred Stieglitz (1864-1946)
- Annie Leibovitz (1949- )
- Edward Weston (1886-1958)
- Arnold Newman (1918-2006)
- Richard Avedon (1923-2004)
Words about images
I struggle to describe my images. Words often obscure and distort visual art. Rather than label and categorize, I prefer to have the images speak for themselves. What do you see?
